I am really pleased to be asked by Horslyx to be one of their guest bloggers. Horslyx is a long term member of the British Equestrian Trade Association and its products have been audited and approved to our NOPS accreditation scheme designed to reduce the risk of prohibited substances occurring in our horses’ feed.
BETA works on many different areas many of which focus on safety – feed safety, safety equipment, safe places for riding and giving you all the assurance that you can shop with assurance from BETA approved retailers by ensuring you can get quality service and expert advice.
One of our newest campaigns is BETA International Safety Week which we are really excited to launch this year – it is a brand-new, annual awareness-raising initiative designed to put rider safety firmly on the map by highlighting the importance of safety gear and equipment that is a great fit, fastened correctly, and up to standard.
Unless your garment or hat fits you and is fastened correctly it really can’t do the job they were designed for. If you don’t have garments that are to an update to date standard you also risk being turned away from the competition of your choice and put yourself in danger should it not be up to spec.
Safety Week runs from 28 April – 6 May and we are thrilled that so many riders have joined us in supporting the week. Amongst those helping us to spread the word are William Fox-Pitt, Charlotte Dujardin, Nick Skelton, Harry Meade, Mattie Batchelor and Marc Goldstein aka Wocket Woy and the Pwoducer, as well as American show jumper Laura Kraut and German eventer Ingrid Klimke. We also have the backing of The Pony Club, British Eventing, British Riding Clubs, the British Horse Society and the Mark Davies Injured Riders fund.
Many BETA retail members are taking part in the week and will be promoting their professional fitting service to help you find the very best – and most suitable – safety garments. Some will also be running special offers and promotions. You can check out the full list of participating retailers here.
